As a journalist for City & Local, I see this overflow of opportunities to connect, celebrate, and explore as a sign of spring's renewed energy, offering residents a wide array of activities.

These gatherings support artists, fund community organizations, and foster neighbor engagement, forming the lifeblood of our local culture. The result is a vibrant schedule catering to classical music aficionados, art lovers, and families. As your guide, I've compiled some of the most exciting upcoming events.

Your Comprehensive Guide to Family and Community Events

Families with young children can choose from several festive Easter activities. The Del Mar Plaza hosts its Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Festival on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. That same day, Encinitas Community Park will hold a massive egg hunt with 20,000 eggs, featuring staggered hunt times at 10:15 a.m., 11 a.m., and 11:45 a.m. (ages 4 and under in the upper field, 5 and older in the lower field). Bellewood Farms & Distillery also hosts its Easter at the Farm event on April 4-5, complete with Easter Bunny photos and egg hunts every half-hour.

In Birch Bay, a "Gardening Green" course runs on Saturdays through April 18, offering tips for sustainable gardening. The Birchwood Garden Club will also hold its April meeting on April 1, focusing on gardening with wildflowers. For those interested in civic life, several public meetings are scheduled. You can find more information on how these meetings shape policy in our resident's guide to local government budgets.

What Happens Next

Looking ahead, residents have several opportunities to engage with local governance. According to a schedule published by the Sweet Home News, the Charter School Board in Lebanon will meet on Monday, April 6, followed by the Lebanon City Council on Wednesday, April 8. The Sweet Home City Council has meetings scheduled for April 14 and April 28, and its Park & Tree Committee will meet on April 15. These meetings are crucial for community decision-making.

As always, it’s a good practice to confirm event details closer to the date, as schedules can sometimes change. Many of these events, from the street fairs to the garden tours, offer a fantastic preview of the vibrant summer season to come. I’ll be out and about covering as many as I can, and I hope to see you there, enjoying the best our communities have to offer.
